Community before industry
|
Feral PhilosophyA feral is a creature who was once domesticated and has been re-wilded.
Feraltech music and creative endeavors embody Feraliza's mission to protect and restore wilderness: in our environment, in our communities, in ourselves and in our art. We love the wilderness for its diversity and interconnectedness. We believe in music as a force for change, a catalyst of movement and part of an ongoing universal conversation. Humanity's contribution to this conversation has been so loud at times as to drown out the rest of the world of sonic expression. When we stop listening to the other species in the conversation, it is all too easy to turn a blind eye to their suffering and think only of ourselves. In the past, all the wonders of our technology and innovation have been developed and used primarily for financial gain. The results can be measured in the makeup of the Earth's atmosphere and water, or in the pay gap between the wealthiest and poorest people. They can be seen from space as the rainforests burn and heard in the soundscapes of industrial cities. Now people are coming together to use all our skills, knowledge, equipment and resources for a new purpose. This purpose is the survival and continued evolution of life on Earth. We are entering the age of Feraltech. |
Who is Feraliza?
Feraliza is a a non violent direct activist, an independent musician and a voice for the ailing planet. She became involved in environmental and particularly anti coal activism at the age of 19 and walked to Westport from Auckland in 2008 to save the doomed "Happy Valley".
She has since travelled much around New Zealand and Australia, always ready to stand to protect wilderness, sacred places and the atmosphere from the greed of big business. She has been writing and performing her original songs to support her unconventional existence since 2005, starting out as a busker and then finding an audience and a purpose among the out door dance festival community, where both the passion and intent behind her music were always felt and appreciated.

"I don't work for an industry.
I work for the community"

What is Feraltech?
Feraltech is the mobile and ever evolving, adapting and improving audio production enterprise begun by Feraliza in 2017. This was when she quite cosmically acquired the tools she required to begin to expand her music into the digital realm. Feraliza wasted no time and began learning how to accurately capture the feral essence into magnetic and digital mediums and mix her feral acoustic vibes in with the electronic ones she had come to love in a way that sounded good to her feral ears.
Feraltech is about using the best tools, skills and knowledge available in new and creative ways to inject feral creativity into the digital world.
We provide services like the Jam Space Craft, an open and improvised musical collaboration space at music festivals.
Feraltech also provides general stage management, sound operation, communication and organizational services as well as full in the box music production capabilities and light video editing work.
Feraliza always has a keen weather eye and a focus on the safety and wellbeing of all involved in the outdoor festival environment. She comes prepared with all the little things that can often save the show and can calmly keep schedules moving forward in extremely high pressure environments. Being a musician herself, she is excellent at communicating with and taking care of the diverse needs of different artists.
Feraliza and Feraltech are currently available for festival work in Te Wai Pounamu and for digital collaborations with like minded creators anywhere in the world.

Download Feraliza's free stencil design in pdf format below and spray paint it anywhere you like to paint things. Feraliza suggests painting it on something you own your self or have permission to paint. Simply print either straight onto a clear film sheet or project the image onto a surface to use as your stencil. Linoleum works well and lasts a long time. You can often find pieces in your local recycle centre or tip shop. Then use a craft knife to cut out the black parts and go nuts in your choice of colours.
